How often do you give your cat a bath? My cat's coat is in bad condition and we've been thinking about bathing her, but weren't sure if it was a good idea.
If your cat has a poor coat condition, try feeding it tuna (the kind in oil, not spring water). The oil is supposed to help. Also bathing is good, but not too often or it may dry out your cats skin.
If the coat is oily, rub her down with cornstarch and brush out. It will be easier than a wet bath, absorb the oil and give her the pleasure of a brushing.
Other things that give a cat a healthy coat- Hartz' Chewable vitamins for cats, high quality cat food and an occasional dab of butter, flax oil or fish oil with their food (these also help prevent hair balls without binding vitamin E absorbtion).
Too much tuna or a tuna-only diet can lead to soft bones, but it's a great occasional treat. Our cat likes bonito flakes left over when I make dashi- a rarity these days!
